Press review – ANSA: Florence Chamber of Commerce study calls for revised ZTL hours for logistics

Logistica urbana sostenibile a Firenze: presentato lo studio a supporto del futuro Piano Urbano della Logistica

Press review – summary of the article published by the Italian news agency ANSA on 3 March 2026 (original in Italian).

ANSA reported on the study on urban logistics in Florence’s UNESCO area carried out by Uniontrasporti and presented by the Florence Chamber of Commerce. The study identifies the main critical issues for deliveries in the historic centre – pedestrian areas and narrow historic streets, ZTL access time windows that do not match shopkeepers’ real delivery needs, a shortage of loading and unloading bays and the limited use of cargo-bike logistics – and proposes bookable loading bays managed by an intelligent system, a revision of ZTL access hours and proximity micro-hubs.

The article quotes Chamber of Commerce President Massimo Manetti and Mayor Sara Funaro, who announced that the city will make use of the study. Massimo Marciani of FIT Innovation, who completed the study, stressed that “in a city like Florence, space is a scarce resource”.
