On 30 and 31 March, 2026, the SMARTIN consortium met in Brussels, Belgium, for its first Consortium Meeting and second General Assembly, bringing together 17 partners from across Europe to review the progress achieved since the project’s launch and coordinate the next implementation steps.

Hosted by the project coordinator ERTICO – ITS Europe, the two-day meeting focused on the advancement of the project’s technical and organisational activities, providing partners with the opportunity to align on upcoming milestones and strengthen collaboration across the consortium.

During the meeting, FIT Innovation was represented by Dario Irrera, who contributed to several key sessions. He presented the consortium’s quality and risk management framework, introduced the project’s exploitation strategy, and shared the methodology developed to define the use cases of the SMARTIN technological platform.

The agenda also included two dedicated workshops. The first focused on supporting pilot cities in communicating project activities and results to local communities and stakeholders, while the second brought together representatives from all pilot sites to review implementation progress and coordinate the next phases of the demonstration activities.

Funded under the Horizon Europe programme, SMARTIN aims to develop smarter, safer and more sustainable approaches to transport infrastructure management through innovative digital solutions. The project includes pilot deployments in Turin, Barcelona, Budapest and Latvia, where the proposed technologies will be tested in real operational environments.
