The DynamiCity project officially kicked off in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together partners from across Europe to launch a new Horizon Europe initiative focused on promoting active mobility as a driver of both public health and climate neutrality.
Coordinated by Eurecat – Centro Tecnológico, the project brings together 27 partners and 9 associated partners from 18 European countries with the shared objective of making walking, cycling and micromobility key instruments for cancer prevention and the transition towards climate-neutral cities.
Over the next three years, the consortium will co-design, implement and evaluate multi-level interventions across 12 urban Living Labs, with the ambition of achieving a 15% reduction in transport-related greenhouse gas emissions and a 30% increase in active mobility uptake. The knowledge generated throughout the project will contribute to the development of European policy recommendations supporting both Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission.
Within the project, FIT Innovation leads the work package dedicated to strengthening the links between transport and health policies. The company’s activities will focus on translating project evidence into integrated policy frameworks and developing a long-term European roadmap for active mobility.
Dario Irrera represented FIT Innovation during the kick-off meeting, contributing to the initial coordination activities and discussions that will guide the implementation of the project over the coming years.
The meeting marked the beginning of a three-year collaboration among a multidisciplinary consortium committed to advancing healthier, more sustainable and people-centred urban mobility across Europe.
