The project

Problem and objectives

DynamiCity is a project funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme under the “Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities” and “Cancer” Missions. The project promotes active mobility and micromobility as tools to encourage healthy lifestyles, contribute to cancer prevention and make cities cleaner, healthier and better connected. The consortium, made up of 36 partners from 18 European countries, develops people-centred interventions acting at several levels: individual and community, digital, infrastructure and public policy. The interventions will be tested in 12 urban living labs, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and significantly increasing walking and cycling, and will be extended to other European cities through twinning activities. By bridging the gap between health and transport policies, DynamiCity will help define European guidelines on active mobility and cancer prevention, supporting Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and the European Declaration on Cycling.

The role of FIT Innovation

WP5 leader · Collaboration between health and transport

FIT Innovation plays a leading role in DynamiCity as leader of Work Package 5, dedicated to strengthening collaboration between the health and transport sectors. In this role, FIT INNOVATION coordinates the analysis of synergies between Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs), Climate City Contracts and local health strategies in the project cities, and leads the development of the DynamiCity Roadmap to 2030, which will show cities the pathways to climate neutrality and cancer prevention through active mobility. FIT INNOVATION is also responsible for the replicability and scalability of the results: it organises workshops and study visits, identifies additional funding sources to ensure the sustainability of the solutions and assesses the potential for rolling out the interventions in the twinned cities.
