The project

Problem and objectives

SMARTIN is a project funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe programme that aims to revolutionise transport infrastructure management through advanced digitalisation and smart, data-driven solutions. The project develops a connectivity platform in which transport infrastructure is digitalised and mobility optimisation services operate in a coordinated way. Through advanced AI-based analytics, SMARTIN combines infrastructure monitoring data with different geospatial technologies, enabling proactive incident detection and supporting infrastructure managers in predictive maintenance. The project's innovations will be demonstrated in four representative European cities, with the aim of reducing average traffic delays, lowering infrastructure operating and management costs and reducing fossil fuel consumption, while promoting the accessibility, safety and resilience of the entire urban infrastructure system.

The role of FIT Innovation

WP7 leader · Dissemination, standardisation and exploitation

FIT Innovation plays a strategic role in the project as leader of Work Package 7, dedicated to the dissemination, standardisation and exploitation of results. In this role, FIT INNOVATION coordinates the harmonisation of the SMARTIN solutions with existing European initiatives, ensuring the interoperability and scalability of the innovations developed. FIT INNOVATION is also responsible for defining the commercial exploitation strategy to ensure the long-term economic sustainability of the products and services developed, and coordinates the project’s quality and risk management. FIT INNOVATION also contributes as a technical partner to the definition of the use cases for the development and integration of the technology platform designed in SMARTIN.
