He stressed the importance of adopting a governance model capable of enabling the shared and coordinated use of public space among different users and services, including freight distribution, maintenance operations, tourism and waste collection.

Among the initiatives announced during the event, the Deputy Mayor for Mobility, Andrea Giorgio, presented the upcoming pilot of a micro-hub in the Sant’Ambrogio market area, to be implemented within the framework of the UNCHAIN Project. The pilot will enable a major logistics operator to carry out deliveries in Florence’s historic centre using cargo bikes, contributing to more sustainable last-mile logistics.

The Municipality also announced the introduction of new measures to improve urban freight management, including the installation of sensors to monitor the occupancy and duration of loading and unloading bays, as well as the deployment of four additional telematic access gates for the city’s Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) by the end of the year.

The study delivered to the Municipality proposes a set of practical and cost-effective measures to support the future Urban Logistics Plan (PULS), including:

Intelligent management of loading and unloading bays;

Revision of ZTL access time windows;

Differentiated regulations based on logistics supply chains and urban areas;

Multi-purpose lanes reserved for accredited green logistics operators;

A network of proximity micro-hubs to support sustainable last-mile deliveries.

FIT Innovation would like to thank the Florence Chamber of Commerce and its President Massimo Manetti, Uniontrasporti and its Director Antonello Fontanili for the fruitful collaboration. Appreciation also goes to Mayor Sara Funaro and Deputy Mayor Andrea Giorgio for their commitment to advancing sustainable urban logistics in Florence.

The Florence Chamber of Commerce presented the results of a study on urban logistics in the city’s UNESCO area, carried out by Uniontrasporti with the support of FIT Innovation.

[96

post-450","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-insights
["GET
